Tony Cuthbertson – Portfolio and history.

I have been a professional fashion and commercial photographer for more than 20 years. My favourite fashion clientele include Miss Selfridge, Zeus jeans and Monsoon.
I have also enjoyed working for American music giants Capitol Records in Los Angeles, and have photographed many top bands such as Ub40, and Marshal Lytle of Bill Hayley’s Comets.
I have been a magazine columnist for a photographic and modelling publication, Model Journal, for a number of years, and been the in-house photographer for Baby magazine.

Naomi Campbell is among the more famous models that I have worked with and photographed. Others include Maria Whitaker (ask your dad if you’re under 25!) and more recently Leilani Dowding and Joanna Lawden for Val Bonne, who make lingerie (see some more at www.valbonne.co.uk - they are all my pictures). I have photographed David Prowse (Darth Vadar), and remember feeling a little disappointed that he didn’t actually sound like that! I consider myself quite lucky to have been able to photograph so many different things in my career and very much enjoyed theatre and dance, which I have often integrated into other commercial work. Actress Sarah Crowe was fabulous to photograph, She has to have the best body I ever saw. She did the Philidelphia cheese add – “oooh, lovely!” she’d say. Ok, another case of asking your Mum or Dad.

She was with Mathews and Powell.

I body painted this girl as the Venus de Milo for a Zeus jeans poster – not easy since I did this before computors were capable of it. We used the rather obvious tag line of “Venus in blue jeans.

I shot these in Barbados. The swimwear shot made a poster and brochure cover.

May is just 14. But every bit of 5’ 11”! This was just a test before she went off to Storm model agency, but I like this picture very much.

I did the hair shot with Tony and Guy when they were starting out.

The best till last! Naomi Campbell. Just fifteen, she is doing her first magazine fashion shoot. I raked the grass round and round to give this effect.

You may know the fashion stylist for this picture. It’s Judy James who can be seen on Big Brother doing psychological analysis. She used to have a modelling school attended by Naomi.

I know I’ve forgotten some people, mislaid their names somewhere in the recesses of my overworked brain. To all those I apologise, and you know I love you really.
